Vintner's Reserve represents our commitment to Jackson Estates Grown, grapes hand-selected from our vineyard estates, which is the heart of our winemaking. Every grape for the Vintner's Reserve wines is grown in cool coastal vineyards that are managed by the Kendall-Jackson viticultural team. In the winery, this gives our winemakers a broad palette of aromas and flavors to create the final blend.
Vintner’s Reserve is where it all began, back in 1982 when Jess Jackson crafted the first bottle of Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay, which gained immediate attention for its unique, bright fruitiness. The 1983 release of Vintner’s Reserve Chardonnay won the first Double Platinum Award ever presented by the American Wine Competition. The heart of the Kendall-Jackson portfolio, the Vintner’s Reserve series has continued to win accolades year after year, becoming perennial consumer favorites.
Growing Region
Our vineyards include 11,000 acres throughout the cool California coastal regions, where our vineyards sit atop mountains, ridges, hillsides and benchlands. While growing grapes in high-elevation vineyards is difficult for both the vintner and the vine, the grapes grown in these elevated sites clearly produce the richest, most intense character and flavors. It is here that the fruit for our Vintner's Reserve wines are sourced.
In the winery, the Kendall-Jackson winemakers strive to fully express a layered and vibrant regional personality in the glass. Vintner's Reserve releases display an artful blending of these distinctive coastal grapes, creating wines that are complex and flavorful.
