Winemaking Philosophy
Our Winemaking Philosophy
Why We Do What We Do
We are proud to say that Kendall-Jackson is a family owned and operated winery. As such, we take personal pride in every step of the winemaking process. In the journey from vine to table, it is our all-encompassing passion to create the best wines from the best vineyards.
In our pursuit of excellence, we aren't afraid to take risks, so we grow our grapes in sustainably-farmed mountain, benchland and hillside vineyards. Though these methods may be challenging for both the winemaker and the vine, grapes grown on elevated sites have more character, complexity and, most importantly, more flavor. Farming our grapes utilizing sustainable agricultural methods is a natural for a family winery; it ensures that our vineyards will keep producing the highest quality fruit for generations to come.
Each Kendall-Jackson vineyard lot is kept separate at the winery, so we can truly capture the essence of each vineyard site. We use boutique winemaking methods throughout harvest, press and fermentation to craft our wines by hand. We've even invested in our own stave mill in France to ensure we always have access to the highest quality French oak barrels for aging. We feel that this hand-crafted passion results in beautiful wines whose unique excellence can be enjoyed by all.
