On Trace Ridge, we grow Cabernet Sauvignon in and above the morning fog line where ultimately the warm sunshine creates small grape clusters with intense flavors.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Jackson Estate Trace Ridge leads with floral aromas of crushed violets, black raspberry liqueur, and cocoa powder. The palate is soft and upfront with ripe black fruits and fine but present tannins, and the wine offers lift and fresh acid on the finish. Hold it a couple years and drink over the next 15.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Trace Ridge, from a site in Knights Valley, is fabulous. Inky, deep, and so expressive the 2018 offers up copious dark fruit laced with chocolate, savory herbs, blood orange, rose petal and spice. Ample and large-scaled, this dramatic Cabernet is showing so well today.

Vineyards
The ancient volcano, Mount St. Helena, towers over Sonoma County. On the western slope of the mountain, about 1,000 feet up in elevation, you’ll reach our Trace Ridge vineyard. On Trace Ridge, we grow Cabernet Sauvignon in and above the morning fog line where ultimately the warm sunshine creates small grape clusters with intense flavors. This estate overlooks the original Trace, or Settler’s path, linking Sonoma County to Lake County
Elevation: 450-1,000 feet
Soil: Beige volcanic rock, volcanic loam, fractured rock and thin topsoil.
Climate: Mediterranean warm. Some fog wafts up to the area from Chalk Hill, Alexander Valley and Calistoga.
