Microclimates have a huge impact in vineyards. Some might think that affect would only vary from appellation to appellation or even county to county, but that’s not the case. In fact, microclimates can delay something like budbreak in different parts of the same vineyard.
These Chardonnay vines were just starting to sprout shoots when this photo was taken, but just a few vineyard blocks over budbreak was already in full swing.
