Vintner's Reserve

Sonoma County

Merlot

2013

Our Vintner's Reserve Merlot has intricate layers of black cherry, plum, currant, and wild berry that mingle with a hint of spice. The soft, delicate tannins of this Bordeaux varietal carry these aromas and flavors to a long lingering finish.

Winemaking

Aged about one year in French (62%) and American (37%) oak for a wine that is strong and round, roughly 14% of which is new. Artisan winemaking techniques such as pre-fermentation, cold soaking on the skins, saignée method and gentle pumpovers were used to enhance and simultaneously soften the tannins, deepen the color, and intensify the flavors.

Vineyards

Our Sonoma County mountain and hillside vineyards provide plum and black cherry flavors with firm tannins. At Kendall-Jackson, we are committed to producing only the finest quality wines from grapes grown in California’s cool coastal vineyards. We carefully match climates and soil types for each grape varietal, and then craft each vineyard lot throughout the entire winemaking process.
