Napa Mountain

Cabernet Sauvignon

2012

Deeply aromatic with blue and black fruit tones and mineral notes. Our Napa Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon us extremely youthful and very ageworthy. Because of the chilling conditions, the Napa Mountain region produces Cabernet berries that are abnormally small, resulting in intense concentrated flavors and extremely dark color.

"There are 400 cases of the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Jackson Estate Napa Mountain. This is also 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged primarily in French oak, of which 55% was new. This comes from their Veeder Peak Estate Vineyard, a site that has provided some fabulous Cabernet Sauvignons over the years. It needs another 4-5 years of bottle age, but it should last three decades or more. Inky purple with notes of blueberry and black raspberry liqueur, cassis, blackberries, new vanillin from oak and a wet, foresty floor note that’s elaborate and penetrating. This is a very full-bodied, powerful, masculine, multidimensional wine of super intensity and purity. Drink over the next 25-30 years."

Vineyards

Mount Veeder is the largest AVA and one of only ve mountain appellations within Napa Valley. The bay breezes cool the mountain, resulting in a Bordeaux-like climate. Harvest is usually the last in the valley, sometimes stretching into November.

Elevation: 1240-1826 feet

Soil: Weathering volcanic rock that builds the shallow, igneous rock and loam, laced with gray volcanic pumice outcroppings.

Climate: Cooler due to elevation and lower Napa Valley location. Mediterranean climate in uence from the San Pablo and San Francisco Bays.
