Jackson Estate Piner Hills Chardonnay 2015
Elusive notes of golden pear drizzled with caramel and a hint of smokey, toasted grain meld with ripe Gravenstein apple. The Piner Hills Chardonnay finishes with a lemony mineral brightness. Over millennia, the Russian River carved its way through the Coastal Range of Sonoma County toward the Pacific Ocean, leaving mineral rich deposits in an ancient flood plain and opened up the valley to the intrusion of daily fog and chilled nights. Piner Hills vineyard is positioned almost perfectly at the center of the valley to take full advantage of what this rare, cool climate region can offer to delicate Chardonnay grapes.
Elevation: 100 - 150 feet
Soil: An elevated bench in the heart of Russian River Valley comprised of sandy loam and well-drained gravel.
Climate: Cool, foggy mornings; warm afternoons.
