2005 Kendall-Jackson Highland Estates Alisos Hills Syrah

Tasting Notes

"Full-bodied inky color with dark, lush and jammy blackberry and cola flavors."
- Randy Ullom, Winemaster

Acclaim

94 Points - "An extraordinarily rich, complex and satisfying Syrah. It's massive in blackberry, pepper, cola, spice and smoky oak flavors. Yet for all the size, it never loses its sense of balance and elegance. This low production wine comes from the Los Alamos region of Santa Barbara, a likely future appellation in its own right."
- Steve Heimoff, Wine Enthusiast, June 2008

93 Points - "Alisos is cool-climate syrah that is 100 percent grown at Los Alamos in Santa Barbara County. Look for an intense red wine, with smoky, floral, peppery red fruit aromas and flavours. On the palate, the wine is meaty, with black raspberry, cherry cola flavours. The attack is round, the textures dense, almost beefy, with super ripe fruit. Alisos is becoming consistently good, year in and year out." - Anthony Gismondi, Wine Access, April 2008

90 Points - "Displays the smoky lard and bacon fat notes of this varietal. Dark ruby/purple-colored with some charcoal, pepper and spice, the wine should drink nicely for 5-7 years."
- Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate, December 2007
