St. Patrick's Day Painted Pots of Gold DIY
St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, so I put together a DIY project that’s a nod to the “pot of gold” at the end of the rainbow. I’ve been wanting to fill my house with more greenery for awhile, and I finally decided to splurge on a bunch of house plants. I hated the sad plastic containers they came in, but cute pots can add up quickly, especially if you’re getting a bunch of them. So I made my own! Now I’m all ready for St. Paddy’s Day…and the first day of spring.
To make your own DIY painted pots, you will need:
Plain terra cotta pots, painter’s tape, spray paint in gold and any other color of your choice, and (optional) acrylic paint for small details.
Step one: Spray paint the pots with your base color.
Step two: Tape off your designs with painter’s tape. This is the fun part! Feel free to follow any of the designs I made, but you can also get creative and do something totally different.
Step three: Spray paint your accent color, wait for it to dry, and peel off the tape.
Step four (optional): If you want to add some finer details, you can do that with acrylic paint instead of spray paint. I added some additional designs to two of my pots–some brush stroke polka dots and a rectangle design.
Step five: Wait for the paint to fully dry, then pot your plants and bring them inside.
Step six: Pour yourself a glass of wine, sit back, and enjoy! You deserve it.
