Here’s a little trick of the trade to help keep you safe in the kitchen: next time you are using a cutting board place a rubber bath mat underneath the board to help keep it from slipping. I learned this trick in culinary school, and have used it in professional kitchens to save on towels.
Damp kitchen towels were often used underneath cutting boards, but the wet towels can harbor bacteria. A rubber bath mat is a good alternative because it can be sanitized easily and used over and over again.
Or, if you’d rather repurpose another kitchen item, a Silpat silicone baking mat can also be used to keep your cutting board in place.
