DIY Color-Dipped Wine Glasses
Nothing makes me happier than having a house filled with family and friends, gathered for no good reason other than to be together! We’ve been doing lots of entertaining throughout the summer season and I’m dreaming of lots more gatherings through the fall and into the holidays. With more than a few wine drinkers in our gang, we came up with a colorful, simple way for everyone to keep track of their glasses as they sip and visit. If wine charms aren’t your thing then this definitely is! It’s a quick and simple project that even a novice DIY-er can tackle in a snap. Let’s get colorful!
You’ll Need:
- Plain wine glasses
- Colorful craft paint
- Paper bowls
- Painter’s tape or masking tape
- Scissors
- Cardboard
Start by wiping your wine glasses clean to make sure they’re free of dust and debris (this helps the paint stick as well). Cover the bottom of each glass with painter’s tape. Be sure to cover the whole underside of the base. Cut around the edges to make a clean circle and smooth the tape down to be sure it adheres.
Next, pour your paint into a paper bowl. Holding the glass by the rim, gently lower the base and stem of the glass into the paint. The deeper the bowl, the higher your paint can go up the stem. Pull the glass out, be sure that the paint coverage is to your liking, and gently shake the glass over the bowl to let the excess paint slide off.
Place your painted glass on a piece of cardboard to dry. Allow it to remain still until the paint is dry to the touch and fully cured.
Finally, remove the tape from the bottom and your glasses are ready to go!
I love this project because you can make as many glasses as you like, and use all of your favorite colors! Hand your guests a refreshing glass of wine (we love serving the Kendall-Jackson Vintner's Reserve Sauvignon Blanc!) as they walk in the door and they’ll know which glass is theirs all evening long. Cheers!
