We're off to the races!
We are thrilled to announce that Kendall-Jackson is the “Preferred Wine of the Kentucky Derby® and Churchill Downs.” The exciting partnership kicks off with this year's Derby Week, culminating in the 147th race on May 1, 2021.
Those close to the Jackson family may be familiar with founder Jess Jackson's lifelong love for the sport of horse racing. At the tender age of eight, Jackson watched famed racehorse Seabiscuit win the 1938 Bay Meadows Handicap. The memory of that first race propelled Jackson to establish Stonestreet Farm, a 1,800-acre Bluegrass stable in Kentucky, in 2005. Stonestreet Farm quickly became one of the country's most prestigious racing operations. Today, it is recognized as the leading breeder of award-winning Thoroughbreds in North America. Barbara Banke, Jackson’s wife and chairman of Kendall-Jackson carries forward the legacy by overseeing Stonestreet Farm and creating our winery's relationship with the Kentucky Derby.
Now that we’re off to the races, join in on the fun!
Kentucky Derby Themed Wine & Food Pairing
Although only a lucky few will be able to enjoy the race live, locals can partake in the Derby fun at our beautiful wine estate. We invite you to join us on Saturday, May 1, for a festive and fabulous Derby-themed wine and food pairing menu. Put on your prettiest fascinator or most stylish seersucker suit! Our staff will be dressed to impress in their Derby-day finest, and we encourage you to do the same. Be sure to make a reservation for this special tasting, which pairs wines that will be poured at Churchill Downs with our chef's Southern-inspired menu. Indulge in a spring garden salad with a Benedictine dressing featuring locally grown vegetables from our four-acre culinary garden. Devour Kentucky-dry rubbed pork belly with carrots and spiced pecans and savor bourbon-glazed steak with crispy grits. The delicious menu concludes with a chocolate-bourbon tart with caramel.
Wine for the win!
While some fans sip on bourbon, wine is our drink of choice on Derby day. To celebrate, we’re offering a limited edition Kendall-Jackson Derby Trifecta Wine Pack. Wine enthusiasts and sports fans can sip our wine in the comforts of home while watching the race. The three-pack includes the 2019 Grand Reserve Chardonnay, 2018 Jackson Estate Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay, and 2019 Jackson Estate Outland Ridge Pinot Noir. Order the wine today ($110, $80 for members) to ensure that it arrives in time for the Run for the Roses.
Can't make it to the estate on Derby day? There is another way to join the fun. On Friday, April 30, and Saturday, May 1, our chef is putting together Kentucky Derby-themed meals to go. The feast includes Southern favorites like sorghum-rubbed pork with sweet bourbon mustard sauce, collards with bacon, cheesy, creamy grits, beet and carrot salad, French bread with pimento cheese, and chocolate bourbon tart. Don't wait to get one of these tasty meals! Orders must be placed by 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 29. The food will be available for pickup Friday and Saturday between 12 and 5 p.m.
But that's not all: anyone who walks away with a to-go meal will be entered in our Kentucky Derby sweepstakes*. There are various surprises, but the grand prize is two tickets to Kendall-Jackson's 2022 Kentucky Derby Celebration. You won't want to miss this fantastic fete!
